A rare Friday evening outing on the 24th of February saw a good number of club members turn out for a very enjoyable meal at the Italian restaurant La Passione in Chipping Sodbury. The food was wonderful, and the company made the evening a true delight, and a good time was had by all. Mike Wescott, the New Members Host, organised the evening – many thanks Mike!
Quiz Night!
A break from the usual displays of images and talks from guest speakers, the 20th of February saw club members enjoy a fun evening with a general knowledge quiz in the first half of the evening, and a photography and astro-photography themed identification quiz in the second half. An enjoyable evening was had by all, and thanks go to John Scantlebury for organising and running the evening so successfully.
A little bit of me
The scheduled talk on the 13th of February was unfortunately cancelled, as the guest speaker was unable to attend. Luckily, our very own Ray Grace ARPS DPAGB, was on hand to show us many of his fascinating images, mostly landscapes and flowers, an example of which can be seen above. Adventures of a wildlife photographer
Peter Basterfield ARPS, DPAGB, gave an outstanding talk to club members on the 30th of January 2012. There were many fantastic pictures, the majority of which were birds. Peter started off showing pictures of wildlife that can be found in your back garden, and progressed to travelling all over the world and showing a huge variety of wildlife, as well as telling tales behind many of the images.

Steam in the UK Landscape
This week Don Bishop ARPS gave a talk to club members, the subject of which was Steam in the UK Landscape. Starting in the highlands of Scotland and moving gradually down to the south coast, we were treated to some fascinating pictures of locomotives, carriages, rolling stock and stations, taken at various times over the past few years.

Welcome to Sodbury and Yate Photographic Club!
About the club
We are a group of enthusiastic photographers of all abilities, and encompassing film, digital and slide photography. Our Monday evening meetings often consist of talks from guest speakers, club competitions, and organised trips out. If you are interested, feel free to pop along on a Monday evening (click here for times and a map to find us), however do check our Programme to ensure we will be meeting in the regular place!
